Picture of myself

During my year as Ms. Wheelchair America/Alabama 2005, I was blessed with the opportunity of making numerous personal appearances and presentations regarding the abilities of people with disabilities. However, my goal of being an advocate, an educator, and a promoter of issues concerning people with disabilities, while at the same time serving as an inspiration and encouragement to all people by demonstrating what the word "ability" truly means, did not end the day my year came to a close. Instead, I directed even more energy to accomplishing this goal.

As Henry David Thoreau stated…

"If one advances confidently in the directions of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."

These are words I live by, and these are words I encourage others to live by.

I encourage each of you to not only reach for the moon......shoot for the stars! Or, as I prefer to say.......be extra-ordinary!! That is, go beyond the ordinary......aim high........ dream big then allow your dream to become reality. May it be our extra-ordinary abilities that truly unite us all!

Thank you and God bless you all!
